So you've got some digestive problems...

If you’re suffering from heartburn, bloating, constipation, or diarrhea, this is definitely something that could be connected to the food that you’re eating!! 

Yes, even if you’re already gluten-free or on an elimination diet.

Ideally, you want to have 1-2 bowel movements per day that are easy to pass and fully formed. If you’re not, something’s going on – and your diet can either help or hurt.

Take it from me – back in 2014 I was a trainer and a health coach, eating a perfectly beautiful, nutrient-dense diet and STILL developed ulcerative colitis.

Turns out, that “perfect” diet wasn’t perfect for me.

What I learned is that gut health is literally the basis for all the other areas of our health, and what we eat is the most important part of that.

Well, what we eat AND HOW WE EAT.

That brings me to my #1 tip for lower GI troubles, like constipation, diarrhea, heartburn and bloating…

Chew Your Food!


I know, it’s so simple. And honestly – for most of my clients it’s just a start. There’s probably more going on. But it’s a good start, and we have to start somewhere!

Here’s the thing – your digestive system works in what we are gonna call a “North to South” direction. (When you’re having reflux or heartburn that’s a “South to North” type of dysfunction!)

What that means for you, if you have “Southern” GI issues – like bloating, constipation and/ or diarrhea, is that we probably have dysfunction somewhere in the “Northern” parts.

The easiest place to start is chewing. Count your chews, aim for around 30 per bite but there’s no real magic number – you just want to use your chompers to make it easier on your digestive organs! Remember – your stomach doesn’t have teeth!
