So you're basically a sleepy koala...

I mean, if I were eating nothing but eucalyptus leaves, I’d be pretty sleepy too.

And while eucalyptus is a species-appropriate diet for koalas, humans have it much harder – as omnivores, technically we *can* eat pretty much anything. That doesn’t mean it’s all going to energize us in the same way, however.

If you’re tired all the time, or crashing every afternoon like the Hindenburg, your diet could definitely be a contributing factor.

Yes, even if you’re already gluten-free or on an elimination diet.

Ideally, you want to have consistent energy throughout the day – naps should be optional, not required!!

Take it from me – back in 2014 I was a trainer and a health coach, eating a perfectly beautiful, nutrient-dense diet and STILL developed ulcerative colitis, chronic fatigue and chronic pain.

Turns out, that “perfect” diet wasn’t perfect for me.

What I learned is that gut health is literally the basis for all the other areas of our health, and what we eat is the most important part of that.

Well, what we eat AND WHEN WE EAT.

That brings me to my #1 tip for fatigue…

A High-Protein Breakfast.

I know, it’s so simple. And honestly – for most of my clients it’s just a start. There’s probably more going on. But it’s a good start, and we have to start somewhere!

Here’s the thing: stable blood sugar begets stable energy. And when we don’t eat breakfast, or when we eat a low-protein breakfast, or even when we eat too many sugary carbs for breakfast – our blood sugar becomes unstable. 

Think of your daily energy as a campfire you’re building. Carbs are your “kindling”, and protein and fats are your “big logs”. If you only burn kindling you’re gonna burn a LOT of it, and you’re constantly gonna be feeding that fire. Who has time for all that?!
